Description
A stunning papercut of two folk dancing men in traditional Polish costumes with a pink flower decorating the top and red flowers on either side.
The Polish town of Lowicz is famous for its beautiful and complex papercuts. Each piece is cut out by hand and stuck on card. Known as “wycinanki” (vi-chi-nan-kee), they were traditionally used to decorate the walls and roof beams of wooden houses. Until recently it was a dying art but a resurgence in interest has seen wycnanki motifs appearing all over Poland: on bags, pencils and even laptop cases. This is the real deal, made by a lovely lady in Lowicz whose family run the local folk museum.
These are roughly the size of an album cover and look lovely when framed. This one comes on a white card background and is protected with cellophane which should be removed before framing.
Dimensions: 30.2 x 30.1 cm
